ASSESSMENT AND SUPPORT
Lunchtime practice and support sessions
2026-27
This year we will be running two lunchtime support sessions most weeks, usually on a Tuesday and a Thursday. Check the noticeboard in the English corridor to confirm what days are happening each week.
How the lunchtime support session works
Come along to B7 at lunchtime if you want to:
Complete compulsory Skill Checks that you missed due to lesson absence
Retry skills you’ve struggled with and regain your Skill Check Streak
Practise skills you’re starting to master to earn more Skill Levels and get closer to mastery
This year there will be two sessions per week, rather than just one, but there are some new rules as a result. We have made these changes to allow more students to come to the sessions and receive support, with less waiting around.
The rules
You must have your Progress Book with you — if your teacher has your book we should be able to get it for you, but otherwise you’ll be asked to come back to the next session, either later that week or the following week
You can only complete 1 Bonus Skill Check per session
You can only attend 1 lunchtime session per week
You can only receive rewards for each Bonus Skill Check once
When you arrive in the classroom
If you need to complete a compulsory Skill Check that you missed in class, speak to a teacher and they’ll get the sheet for you
Otherwise, take a booklet from the front of the room which has your year group written on the front
Choose a Bonus Skill Check task to complete from the booklet and do it at the back of your Progress Book — you can ask a teacher for help as you complete the task, if you need it
When you finish the Bonus Skill Check task
Put your hand up and a teacher will mark your work and give you some feedback. Then you have two options:
Accept the mark and receive the rewards — the teacher will do this for you right away
Decline the rewards; go away and revise a bit more using this website; then come back another time to try the same task again for an even higher mark and more rewards
IMPORTANT NOTE
All the information on this page is also displayed on the noticeboard in the English corridor and on the screen in B7 during the session, so you don’t need to memorise it. Just come along and all will be clear.
WHY THE NEW RULES AND OTHER CHANGES?
We had a lot of students turn up last year (which is great!) but sometimes this meant the sessions were too busy and hard to run, so we weren’t able to properly support the students who’d come to get extra help. The changes this year will streamline things and allow us to provide support for all the students who need it while also keeping the competition as fair as possible for those who want to aim for the top. We’ll run twice as many sessions (2 per week instead of 1) but for this to work we need everyone to have all the right equipment and only do a little extra work per session, so we can make sure it’s all marked and that everyone gets our full attention.
