Lunchtime practice and support sessions

2025-26

This year we will be running at least one lunchtime support session every week, usually on a Tuesday. Check the noticeboard in the English corridor to confirm.

How the lunchtime support session works

Unlike last year, each week will be the same this year, and it will be open to students from any year group. If you come to the session, you’ll have the opportunity to complete Bonus Skill Checks with support from an English teacher. Year 11 students can also bring Enrichment work.

Come along if you want to:

  • Retry skills you’ve struggled with and regain your lost Skill Check Streak

  • Practise skills you’re starting to master to earn more Skill Levels and get closer to mastery

  • Flex your skill mastery and earn extra Skill Levels

You can earn between 1 and 3 extra Skill Levels for each skill, and regain your lost Skill Check Streak by getting an = or more in a Bonus Skill Check of the same type as the skill which lost you your streak.

A couple of other changes for 2025-26:

  1. You can now regain your lost Skill Check Streak at any point during the year.

  2. All the Bonus Skill Checks for the whole year will be available in a little booklet and you can complete as many as you want in each lunchtime session.
