Year 9

Identifying and embedding evidence Combined Skill Check
In this Skill Check you will be assessed on two different skills at the same time:

English Literature November test
You will be assessed on your knowledge of Staves 1-3 of A Christmas Carol. You will also be assessed on the following essay writing skills:
- Explaining evidence: Revise with this guide
- Analysing language, form and structure: Revise with the guides in our methods series
- Explaining big ideas and context: Revise with the guide to big ideas and the guide to context

English Language November test
You will be assessed on terminology from the Grammar and syntax knowledge area and the Discourse knowledge area. You can find all the terms in your Knowledge Organiser. You will also be assessed on the following creative writing skills:
- Creating a character: Revise with this guide to characterisation
- Describing a setting in vivid detail: Revise with this guide to description
- Creating an effective structure (fiction): Revise with this guide to story structure

Creating a conceptualised response Skill Check
In addition to the November Tests, tou will do this Skill Check at the very end of the round to help you prepare for your first Literature essay in Round 4. Revise using this guide
