Romans 10:9 by Amelie S
It is the gnashing of teeth --
Tongue over teeth,
Teeth crushing tongue,
Crushed tongue spilling broken words
That bleed from cut lips
It is the flawless porcelain --
That encases the mind,
Which encases the body,
Encased by the mind.
Body erased by flesh.
Flesh to flesh and dust to raw, pulsing life.
It is the beating relic --
Within your chest
That sobs, and thrashes
Against the sanctum walls.
The beating relic that
Beats, beats in your skull, beats behind your eyes
Begs to be freed
And I am the prison.
Believe with your heart --
Search for me,
For I am lost.
I have hidden myself between the hand
And the hymn book.
I have locked myself in the crypt.
And confess with your mouth --
I cannot confess, lord
I cannot --
Romans 10:9
Believe with your heart and confess with your mouth and surely,
you shall be saved.
It is the moment
Between moments.
It is the final decision.
It is the keys in the hands of St peter
That you would beg for, weep for, bleed for, kill for,
Betray and steal and blame for -
and by God you would -
you would swear at the altar and the cross
that you would do --
what,
what would you do?
My hand shakes as the dagger hovers over the heart of the enemy,
What would I do?
-
Anything.
-
Theres only so much waiting a man can take.
Forgive me father,
Forgive me father,
Forgive me father,
For I have sinned.
